What?
Development Bank Wales (DevBanc) funds businesses that will benefit Wales and its people. The ones that will create ripples of growth. The ones that are more than a good business model or a great idea. They finance responsible businesses - those with a strong social, ethical and environmental standards, as well as real commercial promise.
The Opportunity?
Within DevBanc there are a number of funds that startups can access. The one of note here is the AIW Fund (Angels Invest Wales). This part of the bank runs the largest angel network in Wales and endorses a number of Lead Investors.
Any startup can go live on the AIW platform to promote their investment opportunity. However, where the startup also has an official ‘Lead Investor’ onboard they can also trigger match funding of up to £250k.
Important to Note
There are a number of elements to consider:
- You must be committed to base operations in Wales.
- Match funding is just the icing on the cake!
- Matching only occurs for funds invested by new angels (local or international is fine)
- No matching occurs to institutional or grant capital
