Pitching Hacks
Pitching is never easy, even for those who make it look easy. Please see some tips and hacks below which will help you deliver kick ass presentations.

😬 It’s ok to worry

😁 Own it

🥛 Don’t drink milk
OK, this is a weird one. But you know that feeling when your about to present and your tongue bigger than it should and your saliva all thick! Well it gets worse if you’ve drunk milk either straight or in another drink (e.g. latte). Try therefore not to drink any milk products within two hours of presenting... once it’s done however, you can go for it!

🎶 Warm your voice up.
You’re last to present and you’ve not said anything in over an hour as you’ve been waiting your turn. You get up on stage and your voice croaks! We’ve been there. Therefore before it’s time to present make sure you’ve warmed your voice up. Take yourself offstage, say what you want, but get those vocal cords warmed up.

🤩 Remember it a show!
You are there to entertain them. Own it!

🔋 Don’t give away your power.
Don’t make apologies when you stand up on stage. It’s hard when you are nervous we know, but telling everyone you’re worried, or this is new to you, makes them feel uncomfortable. It essentially gives away your power! Therefore channel your worries into positivity and present your socks off!

📝 Don’t rely on notes, or try to over script what you do.
Quite simple we don’t believe you know your stuff if you’re having to rely on notes, especially if your the founder of the business! Practice and for the main event itself. Relax you’ve got this!

🤹♀️ Practice
Practice without notes, and then practice again. Practice in front of your team, your mum, your dog… the mirror! This is a learned skill, the more you do it the better you will become. Oh, also please, please practice your elevator pitch, you should have this nailed to deploy at anytime!

🧘♀️ However, trust your subconscious you should know this.
The trick is to practice consciously so much that you ingrain it into your subconscious.
Have you ever had one of those almost out of body experiences when without thinking too much you can just deliver? This is because deep down you’ve got it!
When you get into this zone the trick is not to over think it too much!

The classic example is Ayrton Senna crashing in Monaco in 1988. He was close to lapping the whole field. With a few laps to go he was told “to coast till the end”. He went from driving in a subconscious elevated state, to consciously to taking it too easy… and crashed!
Senna was so appalled by his mistake that he, according to ESPN F1, "went straight home to his nearby apartment and was found hours later sobbing about the missed opportunity."
