I’m an entrepreneur, investor, advisor, but most importantly dad to three amazing people.

I love entrepreneurship and backing amazing founders. I’ve experienced both the highs and lows of building new ventures and it’s the failures I’ve learned the most from! This site is all about trying to help others with what I’ve picked up along the way while at the same time supporting a country I love.

For the past 25+ years I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some amazing companies and people. My philosophy has always been to inject fun, energy and enjoyment into what I do.

In Welsh we call this hwyl, which is pronounced ‘hoo-eel’. However, it goes beyond fun - it’s also about a stirring sensation of emotion, motivation and enthusiasm.

One word sums hywl for me - passion.

In the UK you can normally find me between Cardiff and London helping startups validate their business models, raise investment and develop a plan to scale. I also help global ventures relocate to the UK, as my role as the Welsh Dealmaker for DIT.

The whole of the UK is amazing however, I am biased as I have a huge passion for Wales and the Welsh startup ecosystem.

Our top three growth areas are Cyber, MedTech and FinTech. It is therefore an absolute pleasure to sit on the Board of FinTech Wales helping them establish Wales as a globally recognised hub for FinTech excellence.

I started off as one of the UK’s early digital marketing pioneers. I worked for several startups, but most notably I helped launch Experian's consumer business in the the UK followed by their Ad-Tech services.

I then went onto found an agency based in Old Street (London) called Digital-Labs where we worked with leading brands including Virgin CompareTheMarket, AOL, Ascential and many more.

During this time I started connecting to the startup ecosystem, helping founders and investing in their businesses. Since then I’ve invested in over 40+ startups.

I exited Digital-Labs in 2015 and founded Motivii.com a brilliant management tool to connect, motivate and enhance teams’ performance. Used by GSK, Lloyds Bank and Expedia but to name a few. I sold the business during lockdown at the end of 2020.

Now back in Cardiff I’ve spent the last few years evangelizing the ecosystem and trying to give back. I believe that this is one of the the best places in the world to start, grow and scale a startup. Which is why I plan to go again... watch this space 😉.
